Point taken.

And one more thing, Nittany Girl, you state, "people that serve the public are not respected." I think you have it backwards. The public you serve is not respected, neither by teachers nor transit workers.

Hopefully, PA will become the 40th state to have laws in place to make it illegal for both Teachers' Unions and Transit Unions to strike, thereby stopping both Unions from having the ability to hold the public you both SERVE hostage, while you ask for wages and benefits that FAR exceed what most everyone else receives. Nittany Girl and Philly Tom- Why don't you take your more "personal" argument and begin emailing each other directly? Philly Tom can attack Nittany Girl for being a teacher and Nittany Girl, you can defend yourself and discuss your teaching experience. You are both beginning to veer off of the point of this blog. I'm sorry, I keep hearing about all of the abuse these drivers get and I've ridden every day for 19 years at all hours, in different areas and have never, ever seen this happen. It may, I'm not saying you are liars, but come on, give us a break! Every job had people who yell or threaten you in some way. Get over it! You aren't martyrs

I'm sorry

Are you kidding me? You must be a Union worker. Your mentality, if you can call it that, is showing. People replying weren't turned down by PAT, who would accept almost anyone to begin with! We just don't want our tax dollars going towards funding anyone's raises, healthcare, etc. Why do these Union workers feel that they are royalty and

I agree one hundred percent! Right now, all over the country, people's wages are being frozen (if they are lucky enough to still have a job) and these menial laborers are asking for ongoing wage increases and only have to pay up to 3% of their healthcare??? You've got to be kidding me! Their wages are already too high for the jobs they perform
