After removing infected late blight tomato plants, is it safe to plant tomatoes in the same place next spring? Thanks

  • dead tree

Doug. Had a 3 yr old red maple doing fine until late last year. Was about 5 feet tall. Suddenly the leaves became dry & brittle. This year no sign of life. Dead branches. But at the base there are several "branches" sprouting. Is there anything I can do with these? Or should I just dig the roots up & start over?

  • lilacs

Have lilacs in back. They used to bloom beautiful flowers. For the past 5 years, nothing. I tried fertilizing them last year. Still nothing. They grow nice green leaves, but no flowers. What can I do & when?

I'm so glad you told someone to plant more cucumbers now. I got a late start & had cucumber seeds I did not get in tne ground. Did so today. What else is it "not too late to plant" now?

  • COMPOSTING

I'm interested in starting to compost. But I don't know how to get started. What's the best way to begin an inexpensive compost. Will composting attract pests (especially rodents)?

Please!! What is the name of the beautiful flower that appears second on your video of 06-27-09? It looks lavender on the outside & speckled on the inside.

  • Re: compost depth

So, you are saying: 10 layers of newspapers and a couple of inches of compost? Thanks.

Good soil underneath, but a constant problem with weeds. I was hoping that covering with compost might alleviate the weed problem. What do you think?
