Re my having "arrived out of nowhere", not really, I've been around for a while, this by the way assumes your question is addressed to me. I'm NOT any sort of computer tech or IT person, just a thoughtful, I hope and or curious end user.

As to other aspects of background, I suppose that one could characterize me as a 1/8 baked Mechanical Engineer, actually I was a Piping Designer, PIPING as opposed to PLUMBING, there is a quite large difference, sometimes Field Engineer/Construction Supervisor. I worked largely in and related to Oil Refinery and Chem. Plant Design, Construction and Revamp.

Otherwise, as I asked in my comment, assuming that everything is working in a satisfactory manner, why would one want to “upgrade“ their OS, with a view to the risks attendant to such action, no matter what the season ? Obviously, this represents a subjective judgment on my part, one with which others might agree or not.
