Born in 1965, I was raised on the words of late, great Bucco radio announcer Bob Prince. One of my first memories was as five year-old watching Roberto Clemente disappear into a right field corner, only to see the baseball shooting out like a cannonball towards third base (no bounce) to nail a runner. I loved the cavernous cement bowl known as Three Rivers Stadium. But the home field design and location meant nothing to me as a kid. The Pirates could have played anywhere. It was all about the game. Willie Stargell. Roberto. John Candeleria. This storied franchise has way more history than the Steelers and, dare I say, the mighty Red Sox or Yankees, and deserves to be on top again. I am hopeful. If it can happen to the Tampa Rays it can, and will, happen to your Pirates. People forget the team went from 1925 to 1960 without a championship. Our time is coming soon. And will the Baseball Writers of America please put Al Oliver and Dave Parker into the Hall of Fame?!
