I've been rummaging through old photos that I've scanned, as you can see from some recenting postings, and I found this one of John Lee Hooker at Mancini's in McKees Rocks, probably from the late '70s.

It was originally a dark red image because of the stage lighting, but I played with it in PhotoShop to get this grainy old gray effect. The red one isn't too bad, either.

The photo is such a strong profile because John was very cranky that night about people coming up in front of the stage with cameras and shooting off flashes in his face (I don't blame him). He told the crowd that if they didn't stop, he'd take his guitar and go home. So, to avoid ending the show, I stood off to the side of the stage, hiding behind a monitor, and stuck my camera around it just enough to snap a few profiles.

And just so you don't think he was really cranky, he was back in the kitchen earlier, laiughing and having a great time posing for pictures with the staff.
