I never thought in my lifetime the American people would elect a US President named "Hussein" in a post 911 era, with no exective experience, a radical past, and the most liberal voting record in the Senate.  America will turn drastically to the left with the house and senate in Pelosi and Reid's hands.  America will become a socialist nation in the next 4 years and people like never before will "expect" handouts, free rides, and entitlements.  This is what Barry has promised and he has to deliver this on the backs of the hard working, responsible people in this country.  Barry will fill your gas tank, pay your mortgage, pay your healthcare, and get you a job.  Don't worry America, the messiah will take care of you.  God Bless America, please.

How sad for you to carry such hatred and bigotry in your heart.

How does a man's name stand as a measure of his ability to lead our country out of the mess created by 8 years of ineptitude and deceit?

His energy plan forces oil companies making huge profits at our expense to pay for their greed, returning to us the excess.  It creates jobs in cleaner energy alternatives that reduce our dependance on foreign sources of energy while also reducing carbon emissions and thus our impact on the environment.

HIs tax plan reduces the burden working people and senior citizens must bear while eliminating tax breaks for companies that outsource their jobs to foreign countries and reward those that create more American jobs.

His economic plan invests in improving manufacturing efficiency, developing clean, renewable energy and job training programs to take the country in a forward direction...

I don't see any of this as a bad thing. In fact I think it is well past time we change the direction this country has been headed, open our eyes and rejoin the real world.

As far a socialism goes, we are already a socialist country to a certain degree.  A purely capitalist society would have no social programs whatsoever and would be driven strictly by supply and demand alone.  Capitalism creates an unequal and unfair society by its very nature.  It's the haves vs. the have nots.  Our Constitution, based on the equality of all men, implies a certain degree of socialism is necessary.  There are many degrees of socialism, not all of it is bad.  It is not a dirty word.

First, just to get this out of the way.... I voted for McCain.

I am very proud of the U.S. for finally having an African American President elect.

I hope that Obama continues the message of unity and does not abuse the Democratic controlled government and its power.

In terms of security.... I am torn.  I did not like either candidates stance.  I think that we need to return to a country that has a very powerful military... but uses that power for peace and leadership.  I hope that countries such as Russia and others do not try to test Obama... as I feel that this will be his weakness.

The election is over and we should support our new president elect.....

The United States of America is doomed.

The first BLACK President was elected last night by people who think that they will not have to pay their mortgage, auto payments or gas bills.

His candidacy was launched from the living room of a confessed terrorist.

He cannot and will not produce clear documentation of his origins.

He is in favor of wrecking the coal and oil industry in the United States.

He was elected by people that think that his choice for Vice President is Sarah Palin.

He want's to redistribute your wealth.

He wants to dismantle the United States military.

He is not prepared to hold discussion with the US or other countries militaries leaders in the event of a crisis.

He will remove the right to bear arms. (aka. Second Amendment)

He is willing to sit down and open dialog with the world's terrorists to solve their problems.

He will tax big businesses, that helped to build our country, right out of the United States.

Shame on the voters of the United States that did not research this man's agenda before casting their vote.

    SHAME!!!!!

Yes, the social programs in this country have worked so well.  Take a walk through any housing project in the city and see how well they are working.

Obama lied about financing for his campaign and has terrorist ties, that should be enough not to vote for the man.  Not to mention that him and the rest of congress caused the entire mortgage crisis by forcing banks to take on risky house loans.

People in this country think they deserve a good job, house, etc for doing nothing, thats the problem.  A woman who voted for Obama said it perfect last night on TV "I dont have to worry about putting gas in my car, I dont have to worry about paying my mortgage, I took care of Obama and he will take care of me".  Yes America, I guess your "messiah" has come.  Be careful what you wish for.

By the way, captialism rewards people who work hard and create wealth for themselves.  The 'haves' have it because they earned it.  The 'have nots' dont have it because they are lazy, want a hand out and did not earn it.

I work hard for my money and the last thing I want is the government to take it away and give it to people who are a drain on society.

Barak Obama's landslide election means that we are through with the divide and conquer techniques that have been used on the electorate for 221 years.  It means that the William Lynch tactics of yesteryear have been exposed and the vast majority of Americans have rejected it's purpose.  It means that we decided to finally to come together in unity and fight with common goals for a country that is the best place in the world to live.

It means that there is new day dawning that will light a better future for our children and our children's children.  It can mean a fair shot for those who truly deserve it.  It means a larger pool has been created to pick the best of the best regardless of race, color, or creed.

I was not surprised by John Murtha's comments concerning his constituents in Western Pa.

I was not surprised that people were angered at his comments that in some cases were true.

What does surprise me is the hate that still rings and the disrespect that continues after this new dawning of an exciting future for The United States of America.

There were many that did not vote for Republicans in the past but have lived with their policies during their terms in office and yet respected the office and the office holder.

This is a request that the disillusioned, the haters, the racists and all of those who did not stand with Barack Obama and his supporters to respect your new President of this United States of America.  His name is President Barak Hussein Obama.

This is a very strange vehicle, this Internet blog business, in that it allows nameless, faceless and dare I say cowardice individuals to spew the venom of hate without taking responsibility for it.

Hate serves no man well.  Working together as a people to understand our problems, grasp them firmly in hand, and do our part to make America as good as she has ever been is a more noble cause.

We will always have  on the fringe of  society the poor, the illiterate, the downtrodden, as well as those who choose to use the system for whatever reason, but the greater of us, yes, the greater of us will do what is right and good.  We do not have the time to spew the negative attacks that will come now neither to respond to them.  \

Resist the temptation to be resistant to change.  We changed with Bush, we changed with Clinton and Reagan and Nixon. Now we change again for what we believe can only be better that what we have had recently.

And so I respectfully ask that the readers of this great paper show your ability to choose positive reaction to a changing world and respect each of us as we share our thoughts in this forum.

Barak Obama will prove himself to be good or bad for this country as did his predecessors.  Let us watch and hope that he does not forget what it is like to be middle class or impoverished in America.

There is something fundamentally wrong when we are spending so much money improving and educating other countries while our system fails to do so for our own.

I like how the feeling of the United States today is that it has a great big cheek to cheek smile across its face.

Even all the news folks seem to be smiling today.

I think the day of the "political good ole boy" is gone and a new day has arisen.

Like so many Americans, my faith in my country, which has been shaken to its core over the last decade, is restored. Sanity has finally prevailed, and hope has won out over fear and hate. It's like we are emerging from the Dark Ages. The future looks brighter to me today than it has for many, many years.

Some fellow I work with tried to wave the Constitution in front of my face at work yesterday because he wanted me to show him where it says that the government is required to create opportunities for the less fortunate.

I had to laugh to myself. For a guy who hangs upon every letter of government documents written hundreds of year ago, how could he forget the Declaration of Independence? "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..."

For anyone who puts absolute faith into those words, how can a travesty like segregation be explained? Racism of any flavor is a terrible poison.

For me, the biggest thing about Obama's victory is that I can be proud that America is finally taking a step in the right direction, to rid itself of this poison of racism. I could not hold back tears last night as I listened to Congressman John Lewis speak.

America is truly the land of opportunity. I have pretty much always believed it, but that idea became cemented in my mind last night. I was grinning from ear to ear after I heard a man speak, basically saying he no longer has to lie to his child when asked, "Daddy, can I be whatever I want to be when I grow up." That is powerful stuff. Powerful, powerful stuff.

America is the greatest nation in the world. I have never stopped believing that. However, I am more proud to be an American today than I have been in a long time. Another tremendous advantage that comes to our great nation as a result of Obama's win - as I see it - is a solution to America's declining image problem. I am now very optimistic that we will be able to reverse that downward trend. I do not think that would have been possible under McCain.

It's a great time for America. It’s an even better time for humanity.

Obama's election wouldn't mean as much, so to speak, if both the Senate and House weren't already Democrat. A Republican Congress could limit how far left he could govern. That being said, as Congress is primarily the body that sets the domestic agenda and with no check in place, this country could be in for a world of hurt if its residents don't somehow see the light before the mid-term elections in two years. I have no faith in this as this state has re-elected Bill DeWeese, Jack "racists and rednecks" Murtha, Jason Altmire and  Tim Murphy. The federal government is not run by one figure--no matter what you hear, George Bush is not fully to blame for the state of the country presently. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Jamie Gorelick, Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, and Hilary Clinton could have blame laid at their feet as well. I can understand the juggernaut that is Obama being elected President as he had so much going for him and so many people behind him it was hard for him to be stopped. But, please--can the voters please inform themselves before casting a ballot? How does Murtha get re-elected by 14%? Bill DeWeese? How has the Democrat way been going for this state? Think before you blindly cast a vote for the name candidate.
