    Should state lawmakers adhere to the same standards as school administrators for budget deadlines?

    With the state budget unresolved, school district officials have turned to other measures to balance their budgets for the new fiscal year, which started July 1. Some have relied on promised federal money to avoid a tax increase, others raised taxes and some dipped into their fund balance in order to meet their June 30 deadline.
