Is more commercial development good for Cranberry?

Construction will begin soon for Oak Tree Place, a new commercial plaza on Route 19 on eight acres near Dutihl Road, the site of the former Oak Tree Motel. Is more commercial development good for Cranberry? [Read PG story.]

Yes, more commercial development is good for Cranberry. I drive...er, creep through Cranberry daily, and with a little more congestion Route 19 will become a parking lot. Then, we can get out of our cars and walk over to Route 228, and enjoy watching all the collisions that will occur because of the new traffic circle -- yes, I'm not kidding, a traffic circle -- that has been built to accommodate all the cars entering and leaving the new Westinghouse facility near the Olive Garden Restaurant.

The old hotel on the site was an eyesore and little used.  I assume the Sellers may a bundle as it was one of the last sites of any size on Route 19.  The developer is a quality company and while the site is 8 acres, once you allow for parking and driving lanes, you don't end up with much property to develop.

The site is near the on /  off ramps for the PA turnpike and will have little effect on traffic as you cannot put much on 8 acres

That is EXACTLY what Cranberry Twp needs - another strip mall filled with national chain fast food joints, another light to stop at and idle in your SUV, another minute added to your commute.  That is progress?  This is advancing one's lifestyle and quality of life?  When is suburbia going to wake up?

It's all about demographics , traffic counts and free markets

Don't like it, don't move to Cranberry

Thanks for straightening me out about what matters in life, Burghman - demographics and traffic counts.  Sweet!  God forbid if someone should try to open up a locally owned restaurant.  Or plant some trees.

I love it when they claim these malls create x number of jobs.  Yeah, they hire the people from the stores excess competition closed 3 miles away.

All of Cranberry in an eye sore. One big sprawling, lackluster, eyesore. If another craptastic chain restaurant will make the zombies out there happier then what's the big deal.
