No, I'm not talking politics.

In my monthly trip to our nation's capital last week, I was disappointed at how dirty the streets and some of the grounds were. Granted, it was a busy Sunday and the Cherry Blossom Festival was winding down, but the amount of clutter and garbage around the grounds of so many buildings and on the streets was dismaying.

First of all, some of those $1100 Garbage cans from Mayor Ravenstahl's stash are needed. I saw very few garbage cans. The ones I did see were overflowing and needing emptied. As I said, it was a Sunday, but is this an excuse for trash? It was in the flower beds and on the lawns of many buildings.

Usually, the city isn't too dirty, but this day it was bad.

I see Rolling Rock Beer is in trouble due to lagging sales. Its current owner is looking to sell the brand.

I'm involved in a tavern. When RR was taken out of Latrobe and began its New Jersey origination, we discontinued carrying it as many other bars did. It was a matter of principle. Granted, this didn't help sales, but moving out of Latrobe didn't help the local area, either.

It would be a shame to see RR go out of business, but if that happens, so be it.
