McCain/Palin has experience so we don't need "hope".

Obama openly cavorts with unrepentant terrorists & espouses Socialist (at best) ideals. He & his wife have made a lot of money in questionable deals, like organizing affirmative action quotas for construction projects.

Check out the downloadable book of proposed policies on Obama's site. His promises are full of ridiculous notions that are largely impossible. The level of delusion involved is actually frightening. Either he's the dumbest person ever permitted to run for President or he is so arrogant as to think voters are brain-dead. He may as well be promising every voter a unicorn to ride to work & leprechauns to shine your shoes.

What a joke. She governs a state with a population of 800,000.00. She has only been a governor for a year or so. Can you picture her dealing with Iran and Russia when McCain keels over! Also she fixes things for her family-like firing the former husband of her sister! Her biggest civil issue was worrying if there would be enough snow for the dog races.

Joe Biden serves on the Foreign Relation committee. Joe Bidden has been to Iraq, Sarah has not.

uhh... I am still looking for Obama's acomplishment's in the senate. I thought the Internet had EVERYTHING. Can any of you find legislation authored by Obama?

The "right choice"? Please don't base that on your lies. Read about all of Palin's accomplishments before you demean her. Are you counting her stand against 'big oil' as one of her accomplishments? It would also behove you to delve into the on-going investigation concerning her former brother-in-law. He was / is a danger to society.

McCain isn't my first (or second, third or even fourth) choice but he has my vote as the lesser of the evils. And at least someone on that ticket has some real-world experience. Being a career politician is a con, not a pro to me. And Obama doesn't even boast that quasi-accomplishment.

This country is never going to improve if we allow politicians in their ivory towers to run the show. In order to succeed, America needs accomplished leaders who've had to earn a living or have successfully employ others, turn a profit, meet payroll, etc.

Also, Palin is the only person involved with this election since primary day one who has achieved anything as far as countering corruption, ending waste. What has Obama done recently? Something about a bill requiring everyone to stand or chairs to be removed when lobbyists bring them catered food? Somehow not nearly as impressive.

Are you in any way trying to imply being a "hockey mom" is lowly?

If you want to be perceived as having a fresh perspective and vision for Washington, communicating to everyone that you are a Harvard graduate or were an editor is not the way to do it. That school's politics are older than DC itself. Besides, it is a breeding ground for liberal (whiner, begger, victim) thinking.

I am relieved and thrilled that a regular person. An everyday average woman (albeit with extraordinary vision and skill) is heading to the White House.

This is also the first true reform, pork-busting ticket in about 20 years. McCain has NEVER ONCE requested nor received an earmark in the Senate. Palin stopped the bridge to nowhere and brought down Frank Murkowski. Obama? Asked for and received a $1 million earmark for his wife's hospital. Shortly thereafter she received a $200,000 raise. Biden? His son is a lobbyist and his son and brother both work in a lobbyist firm that lobbies Biden's committee. Pathetic.

Having read a large sample of the replies, they are tracking as I would have expected having lived in Pittsburgh for the first thirty-three years of my life. Any Democrat good. Any Republican evil. The number one reason Pittsburgh has declined over the past thirty years is the problem most cities that have declined; one party rule ... Democrat party rule.

I think you all are underestimating how good Sarah Palin will be as a vice-president. Someone who has served as a mayor and a governor is hugely more qualified to serve as president or vice-president than a senator would be. It is unfortunate that the other three are coming from the group of the one hundred most pompous a$$es (Biden being the worst) in the world. Their only qualities are raising funds for their next election, earmarks for their states (except John McCain), and making deals with lobbyists.

I shudder to think what this country would look like four years from now if Obama-Biden are elected.

One word: Brilliant

I was an undecided voter but my choice is now clear. Not only do I think Palin will make a great vice president, I am extremely impressed by McCain's strategy by announcing his pick. While Obama was speaking about his leadership skills, McCain was showing his. He showed us and the world he will be the gusty intelligent leader that will not be intimidated by the many challenges that face this country. Palin is smart, tough, and has done more in her polical career than most politicians who have served for several more years.

"less than 2 years as a governor." How much time has Obama spent as the governor of the largest state in the nation? That's right, 0 days, 0 minutes, 0 seconds? Noted.

Palin's accomplishments are also very obvious. She rooted out corruption and defeated Frank Murkowski, the sitting governor, in her own primary. She pushed a plan for a vast natural gas pipeline through both houses of the Alaska legislature during her time as governor. She killed the bridge to nowhere.

Obama? Well, he wrote a couple books, visited Kenya and gave a speech in 2002.

You think Biden taking Colin Powell's words about a vial in a backpack makes him better than Palin? That's a pretty ridiculous reason. Then again if you liked the Biden pick you probably think plagiarism is no big deal, anyway.

Yes indeed. What a day. This goes to show that ANYONE can be Potus or Vice Potus. I wonder why noone called and ask me to be a running mate. I would make the perfect "token" selction.

John McCain has cited Barak Obama's youth an inexperience as making him a poor choice for President. Yet he has selected a running mate who is both younger and more inexperienced than Obama. Now we have the prospect of a person assuming the Presidency of the United States whose prior governing experience consists of 4 years on the city council and 6 as mayor of a town with the population of less than 5,500 citizens and less than 2 years as a governor. Considering McCain's age this is a very real possibility.

This selection of running mate is an obvious and poorly conceived attempt to lure disappointed supporters of Hillary Clinton to vote Republican. I was undecided before this announcement, but no more. Obama is now the clear choice for me.
