Troy Polamalu is a gentle soul who excels in a violent profession. There are dozens of plausible explanations why the Samoan Headhunter is so conspicuously absent from this photo, and it's fascinating to read fellow bloggers' postulations.

I have one question to ask about Mr. Polamalu, and I hope someone will supply a correct response: Troy's devotion to Christianity, centering on the pivotal role it plays in his life, has been the focus of several articles I've read. These pieces have identified him as Roman Catholic and, also, Greek Orthodox. Which is correct?

Why is that the haters come to check out the Steelers sites?? Nothing worth looking at on their own teams sites? It's funny that ignorant fans don't realize that every team that runs a 3-4 defense is TRYING to be like the Steelers! The Steelers are the model for how a 3-4 defense is run. Everyone else just copies them and adds their little wrinkle. The Ravens are the ONLY other team that can hold a candle to the Steelers when it comes to a consistently high level over multiple years. They have been built to compete in OUR division, YES we(Steelers) OWN IT, we have leased it out a few times but it's still ours!!!

Troy is probably fed up with all the ridiculous hype that cropped up over this game and left town till game time.

I think I saw him in Nashville last night watching our great Penguin team. The hype for these guys has sure fallen by the wayside fast.

Bring on our fantastic Pirates! I'm waiting for some pre-season hype for that ball club, next.
