Yes, the Steelers do not have an offensive line that can save the career of Big Ben and the huge investment made in him by management this off-season.

Yes, Big Ben is already banged-up as are several key players as Coach Tomlin has stated each week into this season.

Are the Steelers going to advance to the playoffs this year's end? If they win their division by attrition, they will advance to the first round and that should about do it.

The Steelers really did not do much to strengthen their team in the off-season, especially knowing their weakest positional areas and losing Faneca. This to me, is the worst part of watching the Steelers lose games this season...that they could have done something about it and did nothing even before the games were played.

Both sides of the ball (lines) are hurting and aging and need major renovation...who cares if we have "weapons" if they get knocked out of commission during games because the team can no longer control either side of the ball? It doesn't start with the quarterback or a linebacker, it starts upfront in the trenches and the Steelers have not been the controlling force of late.

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

8-8 miss playoffs

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

The Steelers will go 11-5, win the division, and make it to the AFC Championship Game. After that my crystal ball gets fuzzy.

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

First of all I would like to say that the Steelers having the hardest schedule in the league is a non-issue. The NFL changes so much from year to year with players and coaches moving to different teams that it's really hard to tell what's going to happen. Parity happens so much in this league, thats what makes it so good. We shall see what happens.

The offensive line is a definite concern. They have to be more protective of the QB. The less sacks = less possible injuries. Let's keep the "franchise" protected and we should be all right. Go Steelers!!!!

I don't think it's that out of the question for us to go 11-5 this year.

I don't buy for a second that New England is the same team this year or the Indianapolis Colts for that matter. Heck, the Colts are starting a sixth-round draft pick at center this weekend. They have close to a dozen rookies playing key roles on both sides of the ball, too.

I'm far more worried about Jacksonville, Tennessee, San Diego and Dallas.

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

I feel that the Steeler have a great chance to go all the way to the Super Bowl even with the subspect offensive line sent that is our weakness. We just going to have to get off to a fast start and don't lose the games we are surpose to win. We have an above average offens, and defen. I'm hopeing that the special team has improve to at least average here we go Steelers !!!! here we go !!!!!!!!!

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

The Steelers season will almost solely hinge on the outcome of their divisional games. 6-0 in the division, including a sweep of the Clowns will all but lock up the division. Remember how important that tie-breaker was last year? Both Pitts and Cleve 10-6. We went to the playoffs while they watched on TV. Yes our schedule is tough, but a fair number of those tough games are at Heinz. Steelers repeat as div champs at 10-6.

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

I think that the Steelers will win thier division, based on their strength and the weakness of the division. Once that happens and the playoffs begin it is anybody's game. Although I am tired of hearing about how many sacks the offensive line gave up the last 2 tears, I do think the ultimate success of this team rests, as it always does, with that unit. I have a hard time knowing that Willie was leading the league in rushing, Ben threw 32 td's with 11 interceptions, and everyone is concerned about sack totals. I would rather heave a few more sacks, then have a qb that throws the ball into coverage to avoid them.

Re: How far will the Steelers go this season?

Despite the rugged schedule, the Steelers will take their annual spot in the Playoffs. Maybe 10-6 or even 9-7 gets is done, but they'll be there again come winter.

Don't forget where the Steelers were last year before Troy, Willie, and most importantly Aaron Smith got banged up...on their way to a first round bye.
