OneChuck:
In defense of those mentioned previously (Charger fan or not) who are looking at reality and not a fantasy world. The confidence is so high for numerous reasons:
1) Chargers have won 5 games straight despite numerous injuries to key players. The Chargers are hot and they are stepping it up as the season progresses. They started out 4-8 and kept the heart and didn't pack their bags. They taste blood and it's visible that they want it more than everyone else. Oddsmakers put the Bolts as underdogs...great...I love it. We all know what happens there....upset in someone else's backyard.
2) You spoke about how the Steelers would have blown out the Chargers earlier in the year had the refs not blown calls "would have been a laugher" and that Berger had one of his best stats that game - take a look at the big picture. Rivers has a quarterback rating of 105.5 - Berger is at 80.2. Rivers has thrown for 4,009 yards - Berger 3,314. We all know that game earlier this year in Pitt. was a joke. Both teams played horrible and without the safety you had for 2pts, offensively you guys lost the battle. Berger may have thrown for some yardage but he didn't even have a touchdown if I remember correctly.
3) Rivers has been sacked 25 times, Berger - 47 (O-Line suffers fending off defense consistently and Shaun Phillips and crew will take full advantage)
4) You mentioned in another post that the Colts are a "mediocre team" and that our win over them was nothing - so, if both the Steelers and the Chargers lost to them in the regular season what does that make us? Two "mediocre teams" in your opinion. The board is erased and it's one game at a time now....
5) Here's a prime example of just a small reason why we are also confident:
People like you who stab your own kind in the back (True Steeler Fan) when things aren't going good and I quote from a post of yours in mid-Nov:
"Solution for the Steelers: Replicate the New York Giants of the 80s. Hand the ball off, throw safe passes, punt the ball into two Superbowls. Phil Simms threw accurately when he had to, but the meat of the team was the defense. Simms did not let his defense down by throwing into triple coverage like "Big Excuse" Ben Rothlisberger.
I think we have a championship caliber defense, and the QB is killing our chances."
End quote.
Point and case. We don't have a doubt in our mind about Rivers. Sounds like you are more of an 80's Giants fan than a black and gold'er. Typical band wagon, won't admit your offense is inferior but call your own kind who will admit it "lifepartner" - type. I've been a die-hard fan of the Chargers all my life. I don't point fingers and compare them to other teams that I could care less about. I don't want to hear anything about superbowls, teams of the past....bs. Here and the now...Chargers will enter Ketchup field and dominate.
Go Bolts
