We're gonna kick the Titans behind...our "game manager" is better than yours!!!

I can prove that statement too...our game manager is paid over a hundred and twenty five million dollars to do it. I don't know Collins pay, but I'm willing to bet it's not more than Big Bens! AND our game manager has a super bowl ring. Yep...he does and a story book type story to go with it. After he promised Jerome he would win him a ring if the Bus would come back HE DID!!! Yes sir, he got to the Super Bowl and set a record...it doesn't matter his record was the lowest QB rating 37 and change in super bowl history  it's  still  a record after all! If your still not convinced our game manager is better than yours Titan fans let me throw this at you...ask broadcasters and they will tell ya. Big Ben throws interceptions and fumbles deep in Steeler territory just like a good screenplay writer would do at the end of act two  to further develope the character's arc and create the insurmountable odds. In this way we can savor more fully the late game winning heroics...that last minute 96 yard drive which the commentators will tell you is part of this kid's dna and how he just wins. Yep, they'll pardon all his follies and miscues that has led up to the crisis and underplay the heroic efforts by Hines Ward and clutch catches by Nate Washington and Santonio Holmes and place all the credit right where it belongs on the broad shoulders of BIG BEN!! Yep, they'll forget about the unecessary time outs, sacks, tosses into double and triple teams,  balls thrown on a hop skip and jump to a wide open receiver. They'll  inform you  as you cringe and can't bear to watch his follies  that his low QB rating and his bad statistics are misleading cause this kid wins! They've told me and you  so many times that we have no recourse but to believe them. I know I do! And you Titan fans had better believe it too...so let me say it again..OUR GAME MANAGER IS BETTER THAN YOURS!!! SO, DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP AS BIG BEN fumbles, gets sacked or misses wide open receivers...not even if he throws picks. It's all part of a story line and the ending is written Big Ben is a hero!  After all the Rooneys wouldn't pay just any old game manager say like a Chad Pennington $125,000,000.00! No sir, that kind of money is only paid to elite game managers and we, sirs,,have the very best in the form of Big Ben Roethlesberger! Hmmm...I wonder if the guys in the clubhouse are convinced yet...they had better be because if they don't vie for the Lombardi trophy in the last game of the season that too will rest on the broad shoulders of our super duper over paid elite 126 million dollar  game manager!

Re: We're gonna kick the Titans behind...our "game manager" is better than yours!!!

GEORGELK8: a few weeks ago, I wrote that in order for the Steelers to win whatever big game it was, Ben Rothlisberger  had to eliminate unnecessary turnovers, which he has.

I feel the three games the Steelers lost could have been avoided if he would have played as he has the last two weeks: turn the game over to the defense, but don't try to put the game on your shoulders....don't start a fire in the house, then try to be a hero and  put it out.

Now, I want to you not to expect alot of replies on this Subject since most of the Steeler Faithful have bought into the hype of "Big Ben", they have emotionally invested and therefore will be reluctant to express the truth.

I don't like to call BR "Big Ben" because I didn't feel he earned the nickname; it seems the P-G bestowed this name on BR in order to sell tickets (The Post-Gazette has a marketing agreement with the Steelers). At the point in time when BR was bestowed the nickname, he had done nothing. The Post-Gazette knows the collective pyshe of the Steeler Nation is emotionally tied this team, and thus vulnarable to suggestions....hence, "Big Ben". Which led to "Big Ben-Godsend"-a total abomination. When I first saw the sign at the stadium, I knew, the Steelers would not win that year. Thankfully, God is a God of Mercy, and has since allowed that ridiculously dumb sign to remained hoisted with no apparent punishment to the team.

Overall, I can not see where I would disagree with you.

Remember: I do love the Steelers.

I don't disagree that Ben has had his moments, but I would rather have him than any other q.b. in league... alot of Ben's mistakes are made because he's holding on hoping to move the ball with little or no protection from the line, but that has improved tremendously in the last 4-5 games.  Most of the time I blame their offensive coordinator. . . Aryans (sp?) as in so many yardage situations we just sit here and wonder why he calls plays that he calls.   I am hoping that the Steelers get rid of him after this season.

mrsb22: I don't know if I should totally dispute what you wrote. I just ask that you beware of the excuses of bad offensive line and Bruce Arians being terrible, are just that, lame excuses.

I am not saying replace Ben Rothlisberger with Byron Leftwich, but in the games against the Eagles and Redskins - Leftwich got rid of the ball fast: Eagles game - recievers dropped balls; and, in the Redskins game the recievers made catches-the run game opened up, and the domination of the Redskins was apparent in the second half.

I speculate that BR did not want his backup to play better behind the offensive line that gets most of the heat for lack of protection; nor, did he want the offensive to appear more efficient with Leftwich, who was new in the offense, than Rothlisberger himself, in his second year.

Leftwich demonstrated to BR that he had to get rid of the ball, and has since adjusted his game. The defense is now controlling the game, the Steelers are winning, and everybody is happy-Rothisberger can go to the bank without guilt.

If I would place blame on someone, it would be Willie Parker who is not the caliber of NFL back that a team would rely on  full time. Parker does not have the instincts to run to daylight consistently. He is a straight line runner with no moves, if you shut him down early, he is shut down, and it puts pressure on the line, and it limits what Arians can do.

If you forget that Parker had a big touchdown in the Superbowl, and wipe away any emotion tied to it, then join me in shouting, "Fire Willie Parker"!

Let me retract my previous statement andd replace it with... BIG BEN IS A BUM!!! let alone a multi millionaire bum! The sooner you people realize this the lower your expectations will be. An elite QB doesn't take sacks at crirical times or put the ball on the ground or throw interceptions. An elite QB finds a way to put the team on his back like a Manning or Bradey. Last week's  last minute heroics over shadowed  the fact it was because of his follies those type of heroics were needed in the first place! With nothing to gain?, perhaps Byron will get a chance to play...it will be interesting to see how many sacks, fumbles picks or mess ups he will have if he does get a chance to play! If he does play and does well, I would show little compunction in having a short hook on Big Ben during the play offs, We've been duped into thinking this kid is special...he's not. His holding the ball gets him into trouble more times than not. A question: why is it he went to Miami of Ohio instead of the U?...it's rhetorrical so dion't bother trying to answer. I know that half the Steeler fans are convinced he's a bum it will take you remainders the balance of this year to realize it. I say trade him in the off season while you can get something for him.pick up the kid from the Patriots(i bet Bill wouldn't even trade straight up for Ben)..another year and everyone will know what half of us already do and he won't be worth manure!

I agree with your comments about Ben holding the Ball too long. I also think a big part of the problem is Parkers lack of picking up yardage when he gets the ball. I think Moore is the go to guy right now. Our running game is really hurting us. This where a big back like Bettis is really missed.  If you saw the end of the game you saw the Titans stomping on the terrible towel. Coach Cower said he thinks that was a real mistake on there part. I hope it comes back to haunt the Titans.

You're right. They keep trying to get fast Willie going but it appears Moore is the ticket.  As far as stomping on the towel...bad style but we aren't going to be able to do a thing about it unless Big Ben tightens his game up. I mean really this guy had 5 sacks, 2 picks and 5 fumbles with 2 lost! That accounts for more TOS than most teams can  make and expect to win. Aryans isn't fooling anyone and is having a terrible year. Look it obviously wasn't Ben's day...for that matter his last six games! Come on give the other guy a shot, he couldn't do any worse. My whole point is they paid Big Ben all this money and he ain't no super star. He has stunk in the playoffs and we Steelers bought an overhyped product. I'm down in Miami mrkt  and would take a Pennington over Big Ben any day. This guy can't throw BUT HE KNOWS HOW TO WIN!!! Our O line isn't that bad Ben takes a lot of those sacks because of his happy feet. Its a shame cause our D is real good and unless Big Ben straightens out we aren't going far. I wonder how the other guys in the locker room really feel about him?!

I just wonder how this loss is going to affect the team as a whole. I don't doubt they will have a good game against the Browns but what then. Ben is going to have to step it up. As for our running game we can't drive down to the one or two yardline and settle for a field goal. This lack of a running game is killing us. If Ben gets us down there we have to score. No excuses. I think Moore should get the ball in these situations. I just don't have  faith in Parker any more. I would love to see Bettis come out on that field next sunday but those days are over. Keep the faith Steeler fans.

HA! What a game manager the Steelers have. Ole Papa Collins looked like Joe Montana compared to Ben. To be fair, this is not all Ben's fault. Ben did have turnovers - but this was because the Titan defense is the best in football. We've had to listen to how great the Steeler defense is all week, well...what plays did they make? We even had the indignity of being underdogs at home. Well it was nice to reveal the Steelers for what they are, a paper tiger. The Steelers didn't lose be cause of Ben, they lost because the Titans whipped them on both sides of the ball. I would say that it will be nice to beat the Steelers again when they come here in January, but that won't happen because the Colts will send them on vacation before we get the chance.

Re: We're gonna kick the Titans behind...our "game manager" is better than yours!!!

I am OneChuck, here me roar:

Before I get started, I need to established the identity of Titan Man, and the total meaning of the name.

Are you a Titan, or are you the man of a Titan? You can't be a Titan because you would have said your name was "Titan Tom" or "Titan Jerry". So to that, let me say, we won't discriminate, and welcome to the Pittsburgh Steelers Forum on the Post-Gazette.

Not that I am representing the great SteelerNation, but the love is definately there.

And then, I am confused about who you love, the men of the Titans or the men who ride with Peyton Manning?

Despite the differances in our lifestyle, I would think you would have to be more committed to one, and not both. Down low?

    How low, can you go?

    OK...it is what it is.

I'm just guessing, but think the Steelers will probably make some adjustments. And just thinking, the Steelers did play some tough teams four weeks in a row (thanks Ravenous). I don't think the Steelers played Detroit, did they?

Oh oh... Jeff Fisher would rather not see his team face the Steelers again because the lil' "Dancing for the Stars" 4th and inches play probably won't work...but nice uniforms, and the music was good.

And yes it would be nice to beat the Steelers in January, but the Titans have to earn their way to the AFC title game, and that is not guaranteed. So before you started bidding your men a good trip to the Super Bowl....wait.

    Because the Steelers could actually....

...win the AFC title game at Heinz Field.

...win the AFC title game in Nashville, where you would have to break out a preety blue towel to wipe your eyes, and pat your nose.

    ....wait sugar pants, just wait.

On final note....How is Vince Young? Is he still partying with his shirt off? That was a nice pic of him....who was that guy looking into his eyes, relishing his every word? Did you take the pic?

    Oooooo, give me the dirt?

I love how the Titan fans didn't even catch that the title was sarcastic!  Way to go, Elvis!  And btw, call us when you get 5 rings.  ;-)

Got rings?  We got 5.  Go Steelers!
