The huge increase in spending for public education in Pennsylvania means great things.
For decades the public schools have defended their lack luster results by saying they were underfunded.
Now they have the big bucks they have demanded.
Now we shall see our children's reading and math skills improve dramatically. Our schools' PSSA scores will rise! Now there will be plenty of books. Now there will enough computers. Now the teachers will get the training they need to better perform their jobs. Now the buildings will be repaired.
Special Education and Title 1 (poor kids academic programs) in particular have gotten huge increases through stimulus funds. These groups will achieve great things now! How wonderful!
Many successes will be achieved by every child.
As an added bonus, there will not be property tax increases next year. The schools have gotten this huge increase in state funding. They will get those dollars next year, too.
