The dysfunctional performance of our state government has done us a great service. Surely, there can no longer be any doubt that our government is incapable of serving us. The leaders have crafted so many twisted rules and bowed to so many "silent" masters, that they cannot perform their most basic obligations. They are like a length of rope that is so knotted and torn it can no longer hold the user secure.
There is a great positive that can come from this budget crisis. We must establish a new government, the government that President Lincoln envisioned when he said at Gettysburg, "a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth."
It is up to us, the people of Pennsylvania, to act to restore that government. We must discard this damaged length of rope and pick up a new one.
Yes, even the darkest cloud can have a silver lining. Let us all act in the next 3 elections to renew Lincoln's great vision by establishing a new government filled with individuals dedicated to public service, rather than self service. Many must fall. We can do this. We must unite to use the ballot box to clear the floor of the General Assembly and the Administration
We must begin anew.
