I agree. There is a lot to like about this strong woman. However, the Repubs have spent the past 6 years telling us that the most important issue of our time is Islamic terrorism and all the "evil doers" in the world. McCain constantly tells us the same thing. McCain would be the oldest person ever sworn in to a first term. He has had cancer numerous times. He is 72. Am I supposed to believe that she is the most qualified candidate to step in and be President if something happens to McCain? Do you really feel comfortable with her sitting across from World leaders?

I feel this VP pick was insulting. She is a fine woman, but she is not ready to be President. That is what McCain needs. His best quote was, "I would rather win a war and lose an election." Now, he will have to say, "I would rather win an election than be concerned about the country."

Also, what is with the Republicans dismissing Obama's coummunity organizing? Aren't they the ones constantly preaching smaller government and people doing more for themselves and their communities? Now they are saying it is better to be part of government than helping people. I don't get it. Too many hypocrisies to count.

Attacking community organizers was a petty move.  Those tend to be the people that deal with the issues that upper class hates to spend their tax dollars on.  You know... the poor, the disadvantaged, those that are discriminated against.  She rarely touched on any issues, and really only learned what a great mom she is.  My mom is a great mom, she'd be the first to tell you she shouldn't be vice-president.  Why?  Because she thinks independently.

This looked like a woman reading a speech to a board of investors, rather than America at large.  I'm not hearing much out of the Republicans other than 80's campaign slogans.  It certainly is a Grand OLD Party.

I'm one of those vital swing voters... I vote for the best leader... Not blindly for a party.  McCain has let me down, and I don't buy the maverick thing anymore.  If I had to vote today, the Democrats are getting my vote.  I simply feel the Republican party doesn't need my type.  I only earn in the 50-75K income bracket.

I have to admit that Sarah Palin truly impressed me with her speech last night. She's as eloquent and as fiery a speaker as Obama is. She's definitely the future of the Republican Party. (Can't we have an Obama-Palin ticket?)

I think she had no choice but to attack Obama and the Democrats in her speech considering the recent attacks on her character and family issues. She was countering those attacks, as well as being a bit aggressive herself. I think as a woman, unfortunately, she has too be more aggressive.

After this speech, I'm looking forward to the Biden-Palin debates even more now. However, I still remain an undecided voter.  Neither candidate has swayed me in one direction or the other. Both candidates need to address the issues now, particularly healthcare and taxes. Health insurance costs are spiraling out of control. We need to lower the taxes on the middle class and lower corporate taxes. As a small business owner, these are the issues I am most concerned about.

No question that she has more experience than Obama.  She actually says things that are important to our country instead of using a bunch of tired, worn-out platitudes.  Obama should just concede while he still has some pride left.

Anyone who is against her is against women advancing in politics.

So, Greyhound, by your fifth grade logic, anyone who was against Hillary Clinton is against women advancing in politics?

Why doesn't a repub on here actually respond to earlier points about being qualified to be President? (Defend her, not just attack Obama, we've heard all that before.)

Do you honestly think she is ready to step in and be the most powerful person in the world?

As an Independent voter (does no good to be Repulican in PA) I found her to one of the most refreshing new political voices to come along in many tears.

Of all 4 canididates running, like she said she is the ONLY ONE that has run anything. You have 3 Senators two with many years of Service in the Congress and then there is Ohbama.

I did a check after I heard her speech. Senator Ohbama has not indroduced one piece of legislation on his own...nothing.

People are worried about John McCains age and having Govenor Palin one"One Heart Beat away from the Presidency". They say she has no experience. Well Senator Ohbama is one vote from the Presidency and he has done nothing in only two years as a Senator. So what credentails does he have to be President that Gov Palin doesn't have?

With the way the world politics are going this year with Russia asserting its self again, I would rather see McCain / Palin in office. At least she would have someone that knows what he is doing in office and dealing with the enimies of the US teaching her what the world is about. incase god forbid something did happen to Mr McCain.

Ohbama says he will visit Iran and talk with their President. This shows Ohbama's lack of foriegn policy. The Muhla's run Iran. The Iranian President does what he is told by the religous leaders.

I would not be hesitant in a heart beat in voting for Gov Palin and her speach last night proved.

If I was Joe Biden, I would be very worried about debating this excelant canadate for Vice President

I was very impressed with Gov. Palin.  What a well-spoken, down-to-earth, normal person.  Her speech, although I'm sure she had help with it (at least she didn't plagerize like Sen Biden), was dead-on in specifying that although Senator Obama is an intelligent and decent individual, he has basically done nothng.   I know some media-types are concerned about her lack of experience, but I'd put her level of experience well past that of Sen. Obama.   And he will not be a 'heart-beat away' from the presidency, he would be right there.

I really think that her speech was on the money and expresses the interests of most Americans.  I don't agree with her on all of her positions (abortion being one), but there are many more things where I think she is 'right on the money' with.

Of the 4 candiates (Pres and VP), she is definitely the best to choose from.  I think she would make an excellent VP.

Well it's official...Gov. Palin  IS prettier than Joe Biden. That should tweek him and send him back to the hairclub for men. As for her speech. it was just an introduction as she said, and YES Obama she has made REAL decisions that affect REAL people. Her speech about Obama being a community organizer??  Has anyone BEEN to Chicago and seen their communities? Let's just say the burned out and stripped cars on the streets are parked correctly

What a great speech! Last ngiht we saw why John McCain cannot spare Sarah Palin. She fights. Palin delivered a home run with her acceptance speech to the RNC tonight and the lines of her speech will energize not only the base of the party, but the swing, blue collar voters that both parties covet. Saying that America deserves a president who doesn't talk to them one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco. Joe Biden, he of Scranton via the halls of power in Wilmington, Del., is shaking in his boots tonight. The Obama campaign has awoken a sleeping giant and every woman who has ever been asked "are you sure you can do that job while taking care of your newborn child?" is paying attention.

I have never before seen a better, more eloquent and funny list of criticisms of Hopey before. The best part? It's all true. Voted present 130 times, talks to working class people one way in Scranton and another in SF and wants to weaken our nation military. Bravo, Sarah! I can't, can't WAIT to watch Joe Biden get eaten alive by a barracuda.

I want to thank the US media for lowering expectations by portraying Palin as a hillbilly know-nothing permapregnant ditz. How's that narrative holding up? Almost as good as your 'devoted husband John Edwards' routine, eh?

She has some charisma, but the speech became a bore the 3rd time she said hockey mom.  Oh, and where were the issues?  She used the term "Victory" more than once, but neither her nor McCain have defined what victory would be.  She decided to tell a few lies, so lets look at them:

    1. Claims that she vetoed wasteful spending and the abuses of earmarked spending.  FACT: As mayor of Wasilla, along with a hired a lobbyist she traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million (pop 221 BTW). In two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation.  Doesnt seem to wasteful.

    2. Her words: ""The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."  FACT: Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan however, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent.  Obama's plan would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mostly topoor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers.  Obama plans to raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest   He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.  Does Palin's gas station owning sister earn $250K in a town of 221?  Thats a lot of gas sales.

Other thoughts:  She's governor of the largest state by AREA, by population its #47.  She is Commander and Chief of a State Militia of 4400.  Not exactly the 1st Army.

Do you think its a coincidence that a state in which the male population makes up roughly 80% of the population that they walk around with button's calling her "Hottest Governor"  Could that have anything to do with her election in that state?  Maybe, maybe not.  But it kinda makes you wonder when you look at some of the lies she so easily spewed last night.

She had help with it?  How bout she just read a script?

With the exception of her introduction and background about herself, the speech was written by one of Bush's speech writers.  Supposedly most of it was written even before they picked a VP.  So what she was selling was her speech style and personality.  Nothing more.

And she completely lost me with the way she delivered her brag about selling that airplane on Ebay, like it was an accomplishment nobody else could touch.  She said it like a punchline, sat back and waited for the applause.  Other than that action, she didn't make us aware of any other decisions she's made when she had "actual responsibility".

And she has no room to talk about how we don't need a president like Obama gaining on-the-job" training.  Just a month ago she said in an interview that she wanted someone to tell her what the vice-president does.  (Video on Youtube)
