Quips-South Fayette, Central-Woody High on TV; Jones-Moore likely to play; WPIAL releases sites

By Mike White | Monday, Nov. 9, 9:55 a.m.

FSN Pittsburgh will televise the Aliquippa-South Fayette game live on Friday night from Chartiers Valley High School.

The game is a Class AA quarterfinal and one of the most interesting matchups of the weekend. South Fayette is the No. 1 seed in Class AA while Aliquippa is the defending champion. Although Aliquippa tied for the Midwestern Conference title, the Quips were the No. 3 seed from the conference after tiebreaker points and head-to-head competition.

Comcast cable television will televise Central Catholic-Woodland Hills and show it on tape Saturday night, 7 p.m. on the FYI channel.

JONES-MOORE PROBABLY WILL PLAY

High schools don't have injury reports for players. But if they did, Central Catholic's Damion Jones-Moore, the sixth leading rusher in the WPIAL during the regular season, would be listed as probable for Friday's WPIAL quarterfinal game against Woodland Hills.

Jones-Moore, a sophomore pictured to the left, did not play in the Vikings' first-round game against Seneca Valley because of an injured kneecap. But Central Catholic coach Terry Totten said this morning that "I'm pretty confident that he'll be alright [for Friday]."

Quips and South Fayette match-up I hope will be a good one.  This QB from South Fayette seems to be the real deal.  The matchup that will be interesting is how Troy Jeter plays in the secondary for Aliquippa.  Also, Aliquippa's big play ability.

If South Fayette can stop Aliquippa from breaking the big plays then Quips might struggle a bit.  MOst often if you look at the past Aliquippa teams struggle with good QB's.  One example is what Seton Lasalle did to the Quips at 3 Rivers.

I believe along with hearing from a few coaches that with Troy Jeters skills and tools his name should be the next name called on Sunday afternoons from Aliquippa.  He just needs to learn the work habits it is going to take to be a great one.  Plus having success in college first and foremost.
