Comparing state rankings; Clairton makes big jump

Here are the state rankings from the Post-Gazette and Harrisburg Patriot-News.

It's interesting that Harrisburg made some big changes this week, despite teams not losing. For example, in Class AAAA, Harrisburg jumped Gateway from No. 3 to No. 2 this week, and dropped North Penn from No. 2 to No. 3, even though North Penn crushed Hatboro-Horsham, 35-0.

In Class AA, West Catholic jumped from No. 5 to No. 2 in Harrisburg, while West Catholic stayed at No. 5 in the Post-Gazette. The biggest change came in Class A, where Clairton went from No. 5 to No. 1 in the Harrisburg poll, even though none of the four teams in front of the Bears lost last week.

  

Clairton and talented running back Deontae Howard jumped from No. 5 to No. 1 in the Harrisburg Patriot-News Class A rankings. The Bears stayed at No. 5 in the Post-Gazette rankings.

I recently saw a few clips of that deontae howard running the ball and WOW that kid is a good one!  I would like to make a case for rushell shell @ hopewell and bring up an interesting case.  Shell has surpased 2000 yds already against moon. If hopewell is successful as a team and gets to heinz field that would mean they play 4 games.  Can shell reach the 3000 yd benchmark?  He would need close to 245 yds a game.  wish tbe kid luck to make that happen!

Nevermind about shell and the 3000 yds. Shell has been suspended from school for 3 days which makes him inelegble for the games against derry which i thought he could of put up 300yds. But oh well!

Shell shoulda transferred to aliquippa when he had the chance back in 8th grade then this wouldn' of happened

Have no idea why a transfer to Aliquippa would benefit Shell.

If Shell needs to concentrate or focus on any area - it will probably be academics - not football  (or basketball).  Brian Davis is a great example - a promising career derailed by lack of focus on academics (among other areas).
