By Mike White | Friday, Sept. 11,

Live blog from Central Catholic-Canon-McMillan game, plus updates from a few other games around the area. Look below for some injury updates on a few top players.

10:04 p.m. - Final Central Catholic 21-7

9:57 p.m. - Central Catholic is on the way to the win. The Vikings lead, 14-7, have the ball at the C-M 46 with 1:18 left. Wait Jones-Moore breaks a 46-yard TD run. PAT and it's 21-7 with 1:09 left. Jones-Moore has well over 200 yards.

9:49 p.m. - Final Upper St. Clair crushes Pine-Richland, 43-14.

9:48 p.m. - Final Hopewell beats Mars, 47-22. Rushel Shell finishes with 171 yards.

9:46 p.m. - Canon-McMillan stopped on its next possesion. I can't see Canon-Mac scoring again, without a break. Central leads, 14-7, with 4:50 left.

9:42 p.m. - Little Damian Jones-Moore took a handoff, was met at the line by Canon-Mac's Mike Hull, but broke free for a 39-yard touchdown run that has given Central Catholic the lead. PAT makes it 14-7 with 6:33 left. Jones now has 195 yards.

9:35 p.m. - Aided by a roughing-the-punter personal foul, Central Catholic drove 88 yards in 17 plays for the tying touchdown. Dom Maggio scored on a 1-yard run. It's 7-7 with 10:20 left in the game.

9:32 - Sto-Rox leads Bishop Canevin, 28-14, end third.

9:30 p.m. - End of the third quarter and Canon-McMillan leads, 7-0. But Central Catholic is on the Canon-McMillan 12-yard line. Jones-Moore now has 134 yards rushing.

9:22 p.m. - Damian Jones-Moore is starting to break some runs. He's over 100 yards now. Hull is still making plays and tackles everywhere.

9:15 p.m. - What can't Mike Hull did. The Canon-McMillan senior halfback-linebacker just threw a 42-yard halfback pass for a touchdown to Alec Schram. PAT and it's 7-0 with 7:06 left in the third. Never thought Canon-McMillan would hold down Central Catholic 's offense like this.

9:10 p.m. - Central Catholic was setting up for a 34-yard field goal when the ball was snapped when the holder wasn't looking. The Vikings lost 26 yards on the play.

9:02 p.m. Colin Dunlap reports Rushel Shell has 160 yards on 23 carries at the end of three quarters. Hopewell leads Mars, 40-7.

Upper St. Clair has returned its second kickoff for a touchown and leads Pine-Richland, 33-7.

8:57 p.m. - Someone put out an APB for offense in this game. At the half, Central Catholic has 59 yards rushing and 26 passing. Canon-McMillan has 27 yards rushing and 4 passing.

50-50 pot is pretty nice. $1,285. The place is packed.

8:55 p.m. - Some scores, courtesy of MSA Sports Network. North Allegheny leads Mt. Lebanon, 14-7. Laurel leads North Catholic, 20-7.

Surprise here. Aliquippa leads Ellwood City by only 6-0.

North Hills ahead of Penn-Trafford, 7-0. .... Thomas Jefferson 14, Uniontown 7. .... Ambridge 7, Franklin Regional 0. .... Penn Hills and Bethel Park are scoreless.

8:37 p.m. - Central Catholic just missed a 43-yard field goal with 39 seconds left in the half. The half will end scoreless.

8:31 p.m. - Rushel Shell just had a 67-yard TD run and Hopewell leads Mars, 33-7. He now has 140 yards rushing and might be headed to another 200-yard game. He had 257 in the opener.

8:28 p.m. - Sto-Rox is leading Bishop Canevin, 22-14, at halftime. Paul Jones is NOT playing for Sto-Rox.

8:20 p.m. - Central Catholic was just stopped on fourth-and-one at the C-Mac. 19. Still 0-0.

8:19 p.m. - Canon-McMillan's Mike Hull, a Penn State linebacker recruit, is making a lot of tackles.

8:13 p.m. - Upper St. Clair now leads Pine-Richland, 19-7.

8:11 p.m. - Canon-McMillan having all kinds of trouble moving the ball. Central Catholic has the ball on the Canon-McMillan 42. A pass interference penalty puts the ball at the Big Macs 27.

8:07 p.m. - End of first quarter. Canon-McMillan 0, Central Catholic 0

8:05 p.m. - Canon-McMillan ball on its own 6-yard line with 1:02 left in the first quarter and no score.

8:01 p.m. - Hopewell leads Mars, 26-7, at the half. Rushel Shell has 73 yards and two touchdowns.

The start of the Central Catholic-Canon-McMillan game will be delayed by 10 or 15 minutes for Canon-McMillan's Hall of Honor induction ceremonies.

7:56 p.m. - Five minutes left in first quarter, no score. Neither team has serioulsy threatened.

Upper St. Clair now leads Pine-Richland, 13-7. Missed extra point.

Pine-Richland - Upper St. Clair update

7:38 p.m. - From Upper St. Clair basketball coach Danny "Frankie Avalon" Holzer. Pine-Richland drove 70 yards for a score on its opening possession, but USC returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. It's 7-7.

Kickoff for Central Catholic-Canon-McMillan should be in about five minutes.

Hopewell-Mars update

7:22 p.m. - Hopewell now leads, 20-0. Shell has 30 yards so far.

7:15 p.m. - From colleague Colin Dunlap - Hopewell has gone on top of Mars, 14-0. Rushel Shell carried the ball all four plays on Hopewell's first touchdown drive. The Vikings got the ball back and scored on a touchdown pass. Could be a blowout. This game is one of the 7 p.m. starts.

Food stuff

6:58 p.m. - Hey, you're ever at Canon-McMillan, try the pepperoni rolls. Pretty darn good for a high school refreshment stand. Refreshment stand workers claim they're homemade - and I believe them. At least they don't come pre-packaged.

Jones not playing; Hagan gets clearance

6:36 p.m. - Our newest high school writer, Mike Sanserino, reports that Sto-Rox quarterback Paul Jones will not play tonight against Bishop Canevin. Jones is not in pads and is not participating in pregame warmups. Jones, ranked by some scouting services as one of the top quarterbacks in the country, is still recovering from a broken ankle sustained in July. He had hoped to play this week. He is hoping for next week.

6:30 p.m. - Just got back from the field for pregame warmups of the Central Catholic-Canon-McMillan game. Great news for Canon-McMillan running back-defensive back Chad Hagan. Not long ago, he got clearance from doctors to play, although he won't play in tonight's game. Hagan, an Ohio State recruit, has a heart syndrome that can cause a rapid heartbeat. He had a medical procedure done a few weeks ago and was waiting to get clearance to play from doctors. He is in uniform and participated in some pregame warmups, but he will wait a week to play. Good for him. Just about everyone in Canon-McMillan says he is a terrific kid and at one time there was question as to whether he would be able to play at all this season.

Lastly, Central Catholic receiver-defensive D.J. Myers will play tonight. Myers is one of Central Catholic's top players, but did not play in the season opener because of an injury.

Canon-McMillan's Chad Hagan warms up before the game, but will not play.

6:25 p.m. - Got an up-close look at Central Catholic standout sophomore running back Damian Jones-Moore. He's been compared to former Central Catholic star Eugene Jarvis (now at Kent State) because he's small, like Jarvis. Jones-Moore is 5 feet 6. But there is a difference between the two. Jones-Moore is really put together physically. He has more muscle on him than Jarvis did at this age.

Damian Jones-Moore, listening to his I-Pod, gives a "five" while walking to the locker room before the Canon-McMillan game.
