It's the most-watched new series premiere of the fall season.

Thanks for the reminder, Traffic!

I sort of have how they call them "the Vs." It just sounds wrong to me but probably only because they were always "the Visitors" in the original and that somehow sounds more ominous to my ear.

re: 'V' reactions, Johnny Mecer doc

It helped going into it knowing that things would move fast in the first episode, so thanks for that. I liked and was surprised that the terrorist cell in question comprised Vs (I missed why/how they are called Vs, though) and that the Vs had been on earth for years. I thought the special effects were great (the original V, even with the cheesy special effects, is still awesome).

Like many others, I think Elizabeth Mitchell is great, and I enjoyed the Anna character. I am more meh on Scott Wolf/his character, but I felt the same way about the Kristine Walsh character in the original. I really hope a few from the original show up. I have to think there are many people like me who loved, loved, loved V and would appreciate seeing them.

As for the water, I thought in the original, the Visitors hid their need for water from everyone, that instead they claimed they needed some chemical. But I can see where it is a little unlikely that they could not manufacture it. Maybe the Vs figure with all the melting ice caps, it will be easy to get/take water?!

I'm very curious to see how it develops given some of the behind the scenes growing pains.

re: 'V' reactions, Johnny Mecer doc

The "V" remake on ABC last night was extremely well done, with better acting and production values than the original.

That said, doesn't anyone find it ludicrous that one of the reasons the Visitors came to Earth was to obtain water? Really? They can eradicate 65 incurable human diseases, propel themselves across interstellar space with an anti-gravity drive, have ships whose interiors look like Mall of America on steroids, and yet haven't figured out how to bang two hydrogen and one oxygen atom together? Good lord, we've been producing water in space since the Apollo era.

And if the need for water is a ruse, it's a pretty lame one. It reminds me of Paul Simm's marvelous piece from The New Yorker:

www.newyorker.com/.../090921sh_shouts_simms

I liked that Anna didn't fully grasp human logic and mores--or at least pretended to. The "mole" plotline was *exceptionally* well played. There was some suspiciously BSG-type material thrown in (paranoia, who's an alien/Cylon instead of a human). The revelation of the original series' "fifth column" early on was a welcome break. I think the relationship between Elizabeth Mitchell's FBI agent and Joel Gretsch's priest is going to be very interested to watch unfold. The one thing I'm afraid of is that they're going to reverse the "Elizardbeth" plotline from "The Final Battle" and have Elizabeth Mitchell's son impregnate the foxy young visitor.

The cast was outstanding. Elizabeth Mitchell, Scott Wolf, and "Firefly" alums Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk--great stuff!
