If we were to pinpoint the start of the prime-time comedy revival that's blossomed this season, it would probably be the premiere of "The Big Bang Theory" (9:30 tonight, CBS) three seasons back. Granted, that show was not an out-of-the-box hit. Its ratings grew slowly but has since developed into a genuine success.
The show's potential quality has always been obvious, starting with leading man Jim Parsons as socially impaired Sheldon, but the writers skillfully developed all the characters, particularly Penny (Kaley Cuoco), who could have been just "the hot girl next door." The supporting cast has also gotten more air time as writers explore their quirks.
Tonight, Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) finds himself torn between a nice girl who likes him and his idea of female perfection: Megan Fox ("Transformers") or Katee Sackhoff ("Battlestar Galactica").
"You'd have a better shot with the three-breasted martian hooker from 'Total Recall," says Leonard (Johnny Galecki).
Eventually Sackhoff shows up in an imagination sequence that's more randy that "Big Bang" usually gets but it's abolutely funny and in keeping with what the Wolowitz character might think up.
