The annual "Simpsons" Halloween episode, "Treehouse of Horror XX," premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. on WPGH. I so prefer that Fox is now airing these episodes before Halloween rather than after as had been their wont for many years.
This year's three shorts include a Hitchcock-inspired story, a zombie tale and a "Sweeney Todd"-like musical.
I didn't find any of them to be can't-miss spectaculars and the first one "Dial M for Murder" is particularly violent as Bart and Lisa attempt to kill off each other's school teachers.
The zombie story, "Don't Have a Cow Mankind," is funnier if destined-to-offend. When Bart is revealed to be immune to the zombies and possibly the salvation of Springfield, it's suggested that everyone else will need to eat a piece of him to be made immune.
"Hold it right there," Marge says. "What kind of civilized people eat the body and blood of their savior?"
Upon hearing this, Rev. Lovejoy tugs at his collar nervously.
