Jon Foster recalls the Sienna Miller incident

Billie (Jenna Elfman) and Zack (Jon Foster) agree to date other people, on ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE. (CBS)Actor Jon Foster stars in the new CBS sitcom "Accidentally on Purpose" (8:30 p.m. Monday, KDKA-TV), which seemed like it might be OK in its pilot but turned pretty lackluster in the most recent episodes.

A few years ago, Foster was in Pittsburgh filming "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh," along with actress Sienna Miller, who gained local infamy when she disparaged Pittsburgh.

As chronicled by the Post-Gazette's John Hayes in the amusingly headlined "Semi-famous actress dumps on the 'Burgh":

In an article in Rolling Stone magazine that hits newsstands today, Miss Miller refers to the town as something that starts with "sh" and rhymes with "Pittsburgh."

"Can you believe this is my life?" Miss Miller later asks Rolling Stone contributing editor Jenny Eliscu, over a plate of garlic-parmesan Buffalo wings at a Pittsburgh hotel bar. "Will you pity me when you're back in your funky New York apartment and I'm still in Pittsburgh? I need to get more glamorous films."

So when I had a chance to chat with Foster at press tour this summer, I asked him what he made of the whole kerfluffle.

"It was funny to us. It was so ridiculous," Foster said. "They're a very, very proud town, as they should be, their history is very, very packed but, I mean, look, I wouldn't want someone talking trash about the town I grew up in but at the same time I would not make such a big fuss if somebody did, that's what I have to say about it."

Anyone who's profession involves in any way being popular with people should know that you can't get away with slurring anyone or anything. Actually garlic parmesan wings in a hotel bar doesn't sound too bad - also doesn't she realise that Pittsburgh is the hometown of George Benson???
