Yet another change to 'Three Rivers'

Now the replacement for the original "Three Rivers" pilot has been replaced.

CBS has changed the episode order, scrapping the episode intended to air first in favor of a later episode that's presumably a stronger hour. This is just the latest change for the set-in-Pittsburgh series.

It now appears the episode intended for Oct. 4 is now set to air Oct. 11.

UPDATE: A tipster tells me a screening of the new pilot, now airing as the second episode, scheduled to be part of Paleyfest on Sept. 11 was canceled and replaced with the "NCIS: LA" pilot.

Here's the release:

(NOTE TO EDITORS:  The following episode of THREE RIVERS has been substituted for the one previously scheduled for Oct. 4)

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN, KATHERINE MOENNIG, DANIEL HENNEY,

CHRISTOPHER J. HANKE, ALFRE WOODARD AND JUSTINA MACHADO

STAR IN "THREE RIVERS," A NEW MEDICAL DRAMA PREMIERING

SUNDAY, OCT. 4

"Place of Life" - After suffering a heart‑attack, Dr. Andy Yablonski (Alex O'Loughlin) tells a young pregnant woman that in order to save her and her unborn child she must get a heart transplant. However, unexpected complications with the donor's family place the operation in jeopardy, on THREE RIVERS, premiering Sunday, Oct. 4 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. (Previously scheduled for a later date)

THREE RIVERS is a medical drama that goes inside the emotionally complex lives of organ donors, the recipients and the surgeons at the preeminent transplant hospital in the country, where every moment counts.  However, dealing with donor families in their darkest hour and managing the fears and concerns of apprehensive recipients takes much more than just a sharp scalpel.  Leading the elite team is Dr. Andy Yablonski, the highly-skilled workaholic lead organ transplant surgeon, whose good-natured personality and sarcastic wit makes him popular with his patients and colleagues.  His co-workers include Dr. Miranda Foster, a surgical fellow with a rebellious streak and fiery temper who strives to live up to her deceased father's excellent surgical reputation; Dr. David Lee, a womanizing surgical resident who's broken as many hearts as he's replaced; Ryan Abbott, the inexperienced new transplant coordinator who arranges the intricately choreographed process of quickly and carefully transporting organs from donor to patient; Dr. Sophia Jordan, a brilliant surgeon at the top of her field and the head of surgery.  She has a vast amount of experience, training all around the world, which gives her an extremely diverse point-of-view; and Pam Acosta, Andy's no-nonsense operating assistant and best friend.  In this high stakes arena, in which every case is a race against the clock, these tenacious surgeons and medical professionals are the last hope for their patients.

If this show has more than ten producers, then it is definitely in trouble.

I hope I am wrong, but I still feel, the more producers, the more a series changes, for the worse.

Remember Bette.  She had 14 producers, a record, which I think still stands, for a half hour sitcom.  And you remember how awful that stinker was.

Yeesh, "Three Rivers" sounds like it's already been cancelled and just doesn't know it yet (though it has an inkling)

Bear in mind, writers often carry producer credits so I'm not sure that can always determine quality. I don't think "Three Rivers" has an inordinate amount of do-nothing producers but they do seem to be having difficulty getting the show up on its feet. Sometimes that's indicative of a flop-in-the-making and sometimes it's not. Remember, "Brothers & Sisters" had a similarly troubled start.
