A couple of weeks ago WQED sent those on its e-mail list -- mostly members, I think -- an interesting survey, which asked many questions about "On Q," the station's nightly newsmagazine program.
Included were questions about "favorite full-time 'On Q' personalities" -- Michael Bartley, Tomia Caruso, Chris Moore -- as well as contributing reporters, including Mike Clark, Anji Corley, Dave Crawley, Beth Dolinar, Harold Hayes, Mike Lee, Susie Meister and Lynn Sawyer.
Other questions:
-- If you have a favorite "On Q" story, episode or documentary, list it here.
-- Has any "On Q" story/special had a personal impact on you?
-- Do you think "On Q" serves the community?
Given recent questions about the financial stability of WQED and the viability of future local programming, it's interesting to see the station attempting to gauge reaction to its flagship program.

In this week's Tuned In podcast, online features editor Sharon Eberson and I discuss recent trips to Comic-Con (for Sharon's summer vacation) and to the TV critics summer press tour (for me). Sharon reports back on the scene from the "Chuck" panel and I offer assurances that this fall will offer better new TV shows than fall 2008 did. Listen or subscribe at post-gazette.com/podcast.

I don't always agree with Variety critic Brian Lowry, but his analysis of the Paula Abdul-"American Idol" situation is spot-on. I got the impression from folks at Fox that they are thrilled to no longer have to deal with Abdul's particular flavor of eccentric star behavior
