(NBC Photo: Chris Haston)Back in the Burgh today, but wanted to get in this bit from Saturday's column about "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," which has its season finale tonight at 10. Griffin said she doesn't know if it will be back next summer, although it seems likely it will.

I mentioned earlier this summer that I was growing weary of the show because it felt so produced. Griffin explained her approach at the NBC-Universal press tour party last week.

Normal 0 "When the show started it was about how I can't get a gig and then a bunch of great things happened to me and so I get to run into these celebrities and they're a little bit less scared of me, so then I thought, what if I go visit them," Griffin said. "I decided to make this season a hybrid between a field talk show with elements of the D-Lister people viewers really care about, like my mother."

But this season did not include Griffin's now-former assistant, Jessica, who appeared in the show in past seasons.

"She has a whole new life in Arizona and she has a fiancée," Griffin said. "I wish she was still with us but she's happy. She was with me for four years. I can't keep them all forever.
