Momma's boy (and his racist mom)

JoJo and his racist mom. (NBC)As if we needed any further proof that NBC is creatively bankrupt, the network debuts the reality show "Momma's Boys" (10 p.m., WPXI), giving a platform to the racist mother of one contestant.

Executive produced by Ryan Seacrest, this sucking wound of a show introduces three guys and their moms who move into a house filled with women.

Poor Jojo Bojanowski, 21, is plagued by his racist mother, Khalood Bojanowski, who was born in Basra, Iraq.

"I cannot have a Jewish girl, I cannot have a black girl. It has to be a white girl," Khalood says. "I don't want somebody from a divorced family. I do not want somebody outspoken. I do not want somebody after my son's money. I want a girl just like me."

Mama announces her repellent views in a video to the girls of the house, adding Muslims, Asians and "fat-butted girls" to the list of those who need not apply for her son's affections.

Naturally, this angers many of the girls and causes others to burst into tears. Misty Alli, 26, of Youngstown, Ohio, plots to go after Jojo just to upset Khalood.

Another girl starts arguing with the misguided mama poolside. Fingers wag, voices rise, profanities fly. It's total train wreck TV, and then tonight's episode ends mid-fight in an attempt to hook viewers into returning next week. Hate speech as a ratings draw. Nice.

This is what NBC considers worthy of prime time these days. How pathetic.

NBC's "Must See TV" is becoming "Musty, Seamy TV." They quickly 86 an interesting show like "My Own Worst Enemy" and yet find room in their schedule for schlock like "Momma's Boys." NBC = NoBody Cares (and that obviously includes the network execs, too.)

Meanwhile, I'll be watching the excellent, original dramas on TNT.

While NBC's decision to put Leno at 10 p.m. is probably a good short-term business strategy, it will prove to be a long-term disaster and marks the beginning of the end of NBC as major TV network. I hope Jeff Zucker is proud of his handiwork.
