Spoilers, below, stop reading now if you don't want to know what might happen on CBS's "Ghost Whisperer." Now on with the blog post...
A book based on CBS's "Ghost Whisperer" is now in stores. Written by series executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander, "Ghost Whisperer: Spirit Guide" is a fan book with details of how the show came about, an episode guide, interviews with cast members, including one actor no longer on the series -- Tyler Patrick Jones, who played Ned Banks until he was replaced in the role this season by Christoph Sanders, no relation to the executive producers.
"Ghost Whisperer" has had an above-average season ratings-wise thanks to the decision to agitate fans by killing off Jim (David Conrad), husband on the ghost whisperer herself, Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt).
A ghost tells me the show runner wanted to wait until after November sweeps to kill off Jim because it wasn't clear how to sustain the tension of the relationship between Melinda and her new neighbor, Sam, whose body the amnesia-addled spirit of Jim has taken up residence in. But others wanted to take a chance and they won the fight. So if future episodes seem like the relationship is treading water, that could be why.
But it won't tread water forever.
The season is likely to culminate in a wedding between Melinda and Sam, who also may have regained his memories by then. I wonder if the bride will wear white -- or would that be too ghostly?
