'CSI' offers resolution

Grissom (William Petersen) finds Warrick (Gary Dourdan) after he was shot on "CSI." (CBS)CBS's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" returns tonight (at 9, KDKA) with an episode that resolves the shooting of Warrick (Gary Dourdan) in the May season finale.

It's understandably a downer hour but it respectfully ushers out the show's original era without instantly pivoting to introduce new characters. This one is all about the original team, including Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), who returns for the first of several episodes.

Watching the team find Warrick's shooter -- viewers know who it is, the CSI team does not -- is generally satisfying, although the conclusion with the perp's confession to one of the team members suffers from the same Scooby-Doo-itis as new CBS drama "Eleventh Hour."

Yep, I'll still watch it. If the original Law and Order can survive countless cast changes, the original CSI can do the same.

I have been a loyal fan since the beginning. It will be hard enough to watch with Warwick, but now with Gris gone...I will have to see how the chemistry with the new cast members are. Sometimes, newer is not better, just as The X Files, I left with Mulder.

I'm curious to see how the new character fit in, too. I think the "Law & Order" comparison is apt to a point, but "CSI," even though it's a procedural, has always had more character elements than "Law & Order." We'll see...

It's hard to predict.  I like "CSI" as a franchise and a show in general, but I stopped watching CSI:Miami because I'm not a fan of the characters and chemitry.  So I certainly plan to give the cast changes on CSI a chance, but I'm not going to stick around if I don't enjoy it.

I will not watch it.  I don't like Laurence Fishburne as an actor - now if it were Denzel Washington that would be another story.  Seriously, CSI is nothing without Grissom.  What a shame.
