Point Breeze native Isaiah Smith, a June graduate of Pittsburgh's High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, made it to the finals of ABC's "High School Musical: Get in the Picture," but he was eliminated in last night's series finale.
Smith made it to the final three before getting bounced after each of the three finalists offered solo performances. Although he didn't get the top prize, he did garner praise from Kenny Ortega, director/choreographer of the "HSM" movies.
"You've got a natural-born talent and I know for sure there's a light waiting for you on Broadway," Ortega said. "You're awesome."
After being eliminated, Smith said, "This is literally the best experience of my life. I have no complaints. ... I know there's a career for me."
Stan Carrizosa of Visalia, Calif., was the winner of the reality competition series, winning a talent deal and recording opportunity with Disney and a spot in a music video tacked onto the end of "HSM 3," due in theaters this fall.
