Sigh. I'm still hearing from Comcast customers practicing confirmation bias who think Comcast's decision to move MSNBC to digital cable is a sign that they're trying to stifle liberal voices. As I wrote in today's column, the TV business is driven by money, not ideology. I don't like Comcast's move anymore than other customers do but I won't advance conspiracy theories for which there is no support.
A reader sent me this link that ought to put paranoid fears to rest. According to this report, Comcast has given significantly more money to Democrats than Republicans. So it stands to reason that they moved MSNBC for business reasons, not political reasons, just as I suggested in today's column.
