Kindle 2 already angering somebody

And it's the people at the Author's Guild.  Apparently the text-to-speech feature on the new Kindle 2 is potentially violating copyright law.

Some publishers and agents expressed concern over a new, experimental feature that reads text aloud with a computer-generated voice.

"They don't have the right to read a book out loud," said Paul Aiken, executive director of the Authors Guild. "That's an audio right, which is derivative under copyright law."

An Amazon spokesman noted the text-reading feature depends on text-to-speech technology, and that listeners won't confuse it with the audiobook experience. Amazon owns Audible, a leading audiobook provider.

Personally, I feel there's a huge difference between a well-recorded and augmented audio book and a computerized voice reading text to me.  Hopefully that keeps Amazon out of the courts on this one.

I agree. I don't see how a computerized voice readng the text is that different from publishing the text. Sounds like a money grab to me.
