Scratchy vinyl to ones and zeros cheap

Today's Woot is the Ion Portable USB Turntable for $49.99 (normally $99.99). This gadget hooks up to your PC and converts LPs into MP3 files so that you can preserve the pops and snaps in digital glory.

We're not usually deal-worshippers here on Techman but we continually receive questions about putting LPs and cassettes on your iPod.  To me, it's a pointless exercise unless you're Bob FM and you have 2 million LPs on your shelves.  You could download pristine copies of your LP music from iTunes at $0.99 a track, which at this price would get you 50 1/2 songs.

Still no word on the USB 8-track machine, however.
