Rush Limbaugh's America

I have received several emails this week from readers who have criticized my cartoon depiction of Rush Limbaugh. They ask if I have ever listened to Limbaugh's show. My answer is yes, I have, but I can only take him in small doses. His inflamatory rhetoric, lies and distortion make me too angry to give him that much of my precious time. These Limbaugh fans claim that Rush would never say anything like I had him saying in the cartoon below.

I would ask these Limbaugh defenders the same question. Have you ever really listened to Limbaugh's show? Where do they think I got the dialogue? Limbaugh has made many statements that could be called "racist", including this remark about how the NFL --- "Look, let me put it to you this way: The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it."

In this YouTube video Limbaugh blames all the racial tension in this country on "Obama's America."

Rob- I have followed your work for some time now and have enjoyed some very clever and thought provoking cartoons.  I do wonder why you spend so much time on things like Rush, Fox, Chaney and looking back to events and people from many months ago.  There are so many things going on right now that will have far reaching affects in our lives.  If you cannot find any of those things to address, send a little note in one of your next cartoons and I will get back on the blog and give you a list you can work on.  I understand you are left leaning, but I have a request that you look at those in total change now and give us some of your wisdom as to what and how they are doing.  We all know that the GOP did not do well when they were in power.  In fact, you still bring it up so much that its hard to forget.  As a reader and sometme admirer, please give it a rest and work on real and current issues, even if it means you have to go after the left.

So your response to whether you've ever listened to Rush is "yes, I have, but I can only take him in small doses."  Translation:  I never listen to Rush, but my liberal friends have told me what he said, and, of course, I tow the liberal line, ergo Rush is a racist.  The key words in your anti-Rush dogma are "could be called" racist.  Sure, if somebody looks at a black man cross-eyed, he "could be called" a racist. But only if you are a far left idiot bent on calling everyone in America who disagrees with your loony left opinions a racist.  You're alleged quote above is another lie attributed to Rush that you no doubt picked up on Move On.org or another far left smear website with no basis in fact.  It sounds like something Jay Leno would say on the Tonight Show after Buress was arrested for firing a gun in a NYC night club!  Pretty funny, but hardly racist!

My Opinion, the Rush cartoon would seems very timely to me.

Lunileft, this line is classic: "You're alleged quote above is another lie attributed to Rush that you no doubt picked up on Move On.org or another far left smear website with no basis in fact."

A perfect example of not letting reality interfere with your perception.

As to minimizing one's exposure to Rush, how much time does a non-moron need to spend listening to an infomercial huckster before it's OK to turn the channel? Divide that by about 5 and you have the time needed to figure out listening to Rush is not only a waste of time, but actually damaging to your soul. Assuming, of course, one is a non-moron.

Kevin-  timely yes it happened recently, but worth Rob time and effort, not really.  Just another jab for jabs sake.  He needs to turn his keen eye on what is happening now, but of course that means the DEMS and that is a no no.

I don't understand the lefts obsession wiht Rush and others.  If they are so stupid/irrelavent/etc/etc, why would you care anything about them.  Just because there are more than 20 million people that listen to him on a weekly basis has no meaning.  They are all knuckle dragging blind followers and what can people like that do against the free thinkers in this world like yourself?

Rob-You might want to update your physical view of Rush.  He has lost a lot of weight, not that over weight guy in your cartoon.

Rob  Too bad you had to spend time making up the "quote" from Rush, but of course, you can't kick the ball off of the ground you need to tee it up, just like all the other "quotes" that no one could find.  You know the ones, or do you?

PS Although you had to create and makeup the verbage for this cartoon, if was clever.  Can't help myself when I see clever.
