Portrait of Palin

I am a not-very-involved member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists but my fellow PG columnist Samantha Bennett is the organization's much-involved president. Indeed, her latest column concerns how much drinking is involved. Given the party atmosphere, it is a wonder that I am not involved but I guess I don't have it anymore.

Last week, the columnists held their conference in Ventura, Calif., where again I was not involved, so don't go sending me any bills for damage. The news out of the conference was that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin won the annual Sitting Duck Award for the public figure who provided the best target for commentary (former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was runner-up).

I suppose Sarah Palin should have won a Sitting Moose award but no there's no quibbling with someone who has what it takes to beat out Blago, one of the great public spectacles of our time. If you are wondering what the Abominable Snowwoman did to deserve this (dis)honor, I heartily recommend the story in Vanity Fair about her.

Little Minx, one of the Reg-ulators who regularly posts comments on this blog, sent me the link. It came with the comment Yikes!

Yikes indeed! Read it and weep ....

The article's URL is too long to appear in just one line above, so try copying and pasting each of the following segments into your browser address box, with no spaces in between:

Best of luck, and happy(?) reading.

It's rather ironic that Reg & Minx would be commenting on someone who DIDN'T win the election, the day before the PG writes an editorial about Al Franken who DID win the election.  An editorial that doesn't comment on this bozo's qualifications, but the hope the voters don't resent the loser.

We have a VP who is like the crazy uncle you hope doesn't show up at the wedding, but you want to keep talking about a candidate who would have been compared to Joan of Arc if she had a 'D" after her name.

We have Palin.  You have Pelosi.

Enough said?

Andy Warhol's dictum is about to come true for Sarah Palin, in the wake of Friday afternoon's rambling announcement -- 14:56, 14:57, 14:58, 14:59...

Oh, just read the article, Titan.   Sometimes it's good to know what you're talking about.

Of course, if you believe ignorance is bliss, as Palin apparently does, then she's the 2012 candidate for you.  Get your bumper stickers before the rush...

Wonder if Sarah Palin took a trip to Argentina?
