New Pornographers/Ted Leo free at CMU

One of the best free shows of the year usually takes place on the lawn of CMU for Spring Carnival.

Last year, it was the Roots; Spoon the year before.

This spring it's a power-pop-lover's dream with The New Pornographers (almost definitely without Neko Case) and Ted Leo + Pharmacists at 8 p.m. April 17.

Ted Leo was booked to play Diesel in November, but canceled for personal reasons, and is booked there again in June. New Porn played last April at the Carnegie Library Music Hall in Homestead with Okkervil River.

Wristbands - available April 6 for Carnegie Mellon ID holders at the University Center Information Desk - will be needed in case of rain.

As usual, it's a much better choice than Pitt's Bigelow Bash with The Academy Is... this Saturday.

Thanks to Brian at http://nacisfamous.blogspot.com/ for the info.

Most curious, considering that Carl Newman (sans New Pornographers) played at the Warhol just this past Saturday and Ted Leo is coming to the South Side in June.  But, hey, good for Pittsburgh!

I have also heard rumors that The Pornos are headlining another Carnegie Music Hall show soon.

Why does it always rain on CMU? The event turns into an inside 300 person event.

Isn't Scott Mervis part of the New Pornographers?
