As if Metallica wasn't heavy enough, the band will have double bassists, much like Spinal Tap, for its Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction Saturday in Cleveland.
Former and current bassists Jason Newsted and Robert Trujillo will both perform with Metallica, according to Billboard, but it's not clear whether it will be together or separately.
Originally, there was some confusion over which bassist would represent. Now it's double the fun.
"I felt strongly they should go as that band and represent because...they're strong right now together," Newsted told Billboard. "There was no negativity, no hubbub or jealousy or silly, childish...It was years ago, man. We're just gonna have a...great celebration."
Metallica -- which seems to have sworn off Pittsburgh as a concert destination -- will fly in from Paris for the event, which will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. on FUSE Television Network.
The other inductees are Run-DMC, Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & the Imperials and Bobby Womack. (No Stooges again!) Do you sense a severe lack of chemistry between these choices?
Wanda Jackson is going in as an Early Influence, and Sidemen inductees include Bill Black, DJ Fontana and Spooner Oldham.
