Were they waiting for a Democratic president or were they waiting for blink-182 to jump in first?
Maybe they just needed to make some cash. Whatever the case, Limp Bizkit has announcement that it is reuniting after an eight-year hiatus for another round of nu metal nihilism.
The reunion will feature the original lineup of Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal.
"We decided we were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than we were with each other," Fred Durst and Wes Borland told Access Hollywood. "Regardless of where our separate paths have taken us, we recognize there is a powerful and unique energy with this particular group of people we have not found anywhere else. This is why Limp Bizkit is back."
During the downtime, the 38-year-old Durst directed "The Education of Charlie Banks" and the football film "The Longshots" with Ice Cube. Borland played in the industrial metal band Black Light Burns and signed on with Marilyn Manson. The band also released an EP, "The Unquestionable Truth, Part I," that no one really paid attention to.
Bizkit's legacy includes two smash albums - "Significant Other" and "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot-Dog Flavored Water" - a feud with Christina Aguilera, and violent concert incidents at Woodstock '99 (remember "Break Stuff"?) and the 2001 Big Day Out festival in Australia, where a fan suffered a heart attack in a crush of fans some said was incited by Durst.
