blink-182: Back together for the kids

blink-182 is the latest band to discover that life ain't so great after the breakup.blink

The iconic pop-punk band announced Sunday night at the Grammy awards that it was reuniting after four years apart.  The band then issued a statement saying, "Hi. We're blink-182. This past week there've been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us.  To put it simply, We're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again.  Friendships reformed.  17 years deep in our legacy."

During the hiatus, Tom DeLonge formed the art-rock band Angels & Airwaves, which never rose to blink-level success, and Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker formed the forgettable pop-punk band +44. Barker also starred in the MTV reality show "Meet the Barkers," before suffering suffering injuries in a plane crash in September.

Already comments are popping up on message boards like "just what we need -- another mediocre pop-punk band."

As pop-punk bands go, it's a big improvement over New Found Glory. I think blink-182 will put some fun back into the summer concert season. Hope they pay us a visit.
