Because most people who know me associate me with all things Hugh Jackman (have I mentioned I'm a fan?) and therefore, all things Wolverine (his star-making character), a publicist's message went from movie editor Barbara Vancheri's e-mail to mine.
Accompanied by the picture to the left, it said: "LaMarr Woodley (the former University of Michigan's Wolverine) now a victorious Pittsburgh Steeler. He just so happens to have a HUGE Marvel Comic Book tattoo of a Wolverine on his right arm ... 20th Century Fox's "X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE" will hit theaters May 1st. ... This could be a fun angle to include in any post-suberbowl/parade coverage today!"
While we're on the subject of Hugh Jackman (weren't we?), who is hosting the Oscar telecast on Feb. 22, the producers are spreading the word that there may be more changes afoot than an actor/singer/dancer as host, instead of comedian. There's talk of new ways to present awards and a montage of footage from upcoming films ("X-Men Origins: Wolverine," perhaps?) with the end credits.
There's worry that most of the Best Picture nominees have not had big office and that might keep viewership down. They should have listened to Barbara Vancheri, who felt the biggest sub of all in the category was 2008's biggest flick, "The Dark Knight."
