CINCINNATI -- Today marks our annual best/worst list of the Pirates' season about to pass, and one might think such a list would have been pretty challenging on the positive end. But it really was not, even in the scope of all the team's losses, I found that the best portion was not hard at all. In fact, someone who performed as well as rookie reliever Jesse Chavez did not get a mention at all.
If the list expands to 18 categories next year -- it was 17 this time for a reason -- maybe we can manufacture one for Chavez.
I also did more stressing of the guys currently with the team, as the item on Lastings Milledge's great catch last month making the top defensive play suggests. Seemed to be a more relevant way to handle it. (For the entire year, I still would take Jack Wilson's crazy double play in Philadelphia.)
As always, dissenting views are encouraged.
