No cash included in LaRoche trade

By Dejan Kovacevic | 3:03 p.m. Wednesday

The Pirates are not including cash in the Adam LaRoche trade. Boston will assume all of his remaining $2.95 million.

That pretty much completes things, so here is a whole new thread to start anew.

Lumbergh

Lefty McThump is playing first base today. He has a homer and a double.

Alexandre from last thread

Yes, Diaz goes ahead of Chase D'Arnaud -- mostly because D'Arnaud is injured.  He goes ahead of Jordy Mercer too, methinks, since Diaz is already in AA.  They may even move him up to AAA to see if he can handle it.  His glove is supposedly ML ready, and we need ML ready middle infield.

No cash?  Good, a clean break, and better positioned to compete for Sano.  I hope Fenway is better to AdLa than PNC was.

Well, silly me. That's what I get for not waiting for confirmation from DK.

No cash...LaRoche was gone after the year probably, anyway...yeah, I guess I'm OK with it.

It looks like Huntington did a great job on this one, if for no other reason than the Bucs don't have to assume any of Laroche's salary.

2 players and not giving up cash.  BRILLIANT!

Way to get fleeced by the Red Sox yet again by undervaluing your player.   I understand you attempt to trade Adam, but this is another "Gorkys", all tools little talent trade.

Neil should be banned from trading with the Red Sox by Selig.  You are not getting good value from them.  I'm not saying Jed Lowie, but Lars Anderson would have looked nice.  They have Kotsay spot starting.

I think that Steve Pearce needs a shot to play first base, everyday, for at least a week or so. He struggled more in AAA when he was in the OF and then started to get in more of a groove when he was at 1B. Give him a shot to do it, keep Jones in the outfield for now, and see how it goes.

Its moving day for the LaRoche bobblehead at our house.  Any trade or release of a Pirate results in the bobblehead being relocated from son's bedroom to the basement.  It's called being sent down.

Steve Pearce is horrible.  Period.  I can't stand watching him smack that chewing gum, let alone get up there and strike out.  And he's a 1/2 notch above Delwyn defensively, which ain't good.  That is the ONLY bad news today from Bucco land...sort of rained on the parade a little.  (i'd rather see LaRoche $3M go to Freddy/Jack than Sano)

I see that we got our favorite player again: Prospect.

How many guys named "Prospect" are the Pirates going to get?

Peter Gammons of ESPN reports that the Pirates had a better offer of prospects from another team, but dealt LaRoche to the Red Sox because they would absorb his entire remaining salary of $2 million. So how does this ownership group convince the ever dwindling fan base that they are about WINNING, and not saving $2 million?

@Chez - I'd rather hear the report coming from Dejan than Peter Gammons.  If the $2 mil is dedicated toward getting Sano, I'm all for it.
