The Pirates, after previously announcing that season-ticket prices would be reduced for 2009, today announced they are freezing prices of single-game tickets.
"We believe that freezing the prices of individual game tickets for the 2009 season was the appropriate thing to do in light of the difficult economic climate," Pirates president Frank Coonelly said in a statement. "Pirates baseball is the most affordable, fan- and family-friendly professional sports experience in the region and, by freezing our prices for 2009, we are doing everything we can to make it possible for our fans to enjoy Pirates baseball at PNC Park."
The team also will continue its season-ticket plan of buying 10 games for the price of eight, and there will be two changes: There will be a new $12 ticket for the left and right grandstands, sections 305-308 and 325-328, and all tickets for the Pirates Cove will come with $5 of credit that can be redeemed for food and merchandise.
Single-game tickets go on sale to the general public Feb. 21.
