The Pirates and Pedro Alvarez have unequivocally not yet agreed to terms, according to a high-level team source, contrary to one local radio report.
UPDATE 11:11 p.m.: Second source confirms -- not that it was needed after that first one -- that there is no deal yet. Team remains optimistic, though.
11:31 p.m.: Tanner Scheppers has unequivocally not agreed to terms, never came close and, in all likelihood, will not. Another high-level team source.
11:36 p.m.: Yonder Alonso gives in to the Reds' ultimatum. He was No. 7. Here we go ...
11:42 p.m.: Just to brace everyone again: Just because the deadline is midnight does not mean word will come -- one way or the other -- at midnight. Remember that Scott Boras phoned the Royals at 11:58 last year.
11:53 p.m.: I can just sense all of you out there dying over this. Won't be long now ...
12:13 a.m. Saturday: Word is, no word yet.
12:19 a.m.: Giants sign Posey. Maybe that was a domino. Who can say now?
12:27 a.m.: All of a sudden, not hearing anything from anyone. Not sure what that means.
12:30 a.m.: Posey gets $6.2 million upfront bonus, biggest ever. Minor league deal.
