DENVER -- This is the view you would get from the Rockies' press box, one of the better locations in Major League Baseball. That is Luis Rivas down there in the box, right before he led off with an infield single and made John Russell look like a genius for that goofy lineup he filled out today.
On a slightly clearer day, you can make out the Rocky Mountains just beyond that set of bleachers beyond center, but 98 degrees will bring some haze with it. Oh, and if you look up at the upper deck on the right, just above that shade being cast is a singular row of purple seats that circles the stadium. This is the exact mile-high point, and many fans make the pilgrimage up there before the game just to say they did it.

And this is the view you would have if you looked down and got to work. The setup varies depending on the press box space, but I have enough today for the teams' game notes on the left, the PDA and iPod charging, a sandwich to eat on my way to the airport later tonight, already-warm milk, a Doug Davis mini-bobblehead doll (a good luck thing and the only one I own small enough for my traveling case), obligatory screen shot of a much better place on the laptop, and a scorebook to record all these hits the club is getting off Aaron Cook.
