We haven't reported on Homewood real estate lately. It's still cheap. These are some of the properties that RealSTATs reports have sold in the 13th Ward in recent weeks:
7245 Finance, for $120,000
Formosa Way (no image available, no address given), for $6,000
8004 Frankstown Avenue for $10,500
2000 Sonny St., for $55,000
7208 Race St., for $12,500
7208 Race is in my block, and I am glad to report that the new owner is not simply letting it sit vacant and deteriorate further. I think workers may have started rehabbing the place the same day that the deal closed. Here's hoping they finish the job and get decent tenants in there before winter.
News you may have missed: There was another shooting in Homewood Thursday afternoon. It was non-fatal, there's no known motive, no arrests have been made, and it barely made the news. One would almost think that non-fatal shootings are OK. If the Pittsburgh Initiative to Reduce Crime is truly effective, it can't begin soon enough.
About that party: The location for the "My Homewood" Readers' Get-Together will be Montage, a loft space at 201 N. Braddock Ave. Did I mention that we'll have dinner? We'll have dinner. Menu's still being developed. It will not include escargot, I'm not that rich yet.
