They're not booing, they are yelling "boooooze"

Interesting stuff from Andy Staples in today's CNN/SI Inside College Football column, including this:

"Surprisingly, fans in most conferences seemed torn as to whether schools should sell alcoholic beverages at games. ...

The largest margin came in the Big East where 65.9 percent of respondents wanted the right to crack a bottle in the stadium."

Nice.

Interesting that an overwhelming majority of respondents chose Pitt and WVU for their number one rival, favorite away game, and rudest fans.  Does this mean that most of the respondents were WVU and Pitt fans, or that many opposing fans view these two teams as their arch-rival?

Good question.

As per selling the beer, I don't pay much attention when I am walking to the press boxes at stadium.

I remember the Carrier Dome selling beer, as there was a tap station right outside the press room.

Same with Cincinnati.

I am almost certain at Heinz Field, you have to be in the club section for Pitt games to get the beer.

At Raymond James, I know there was beer in the club, as I walked through there, but didn't pay attention to the "regular" area.

I would be happy to purchase a beer at a game, but it's no big deal one way or the other to me.  My first Mountaineer games were at OLD Mountaineer Field in the late 70s, and although my memories are limited, my Dad and uncles have told me some wild stories about games there.  They brought coolers INTO the stadium, without a second glance from the ticket gate personnel.  And apparently, some of the vendors toting soft drinks around...instead of yelling "Coke, here!"  they actually said "Mixers, get your mixers here!"

If a college team does have beer sales available, I do think they should offer alcohol-free sections as an option, at least for season-ticket holders.
