A presidential president

Tom Waseleski

You can read all the details about Barack Obama's first prime-time news conference as president last night, but the big news for me was we finally have a president who looks, sounds and acts presidential. He was in control of the facts, he was non-ideological and, while he made a strong  case for his stimulus package, he kept to the high road and refused to vilify congressional Republicans. That's a tough line to walk, especially right out of the box.

To those who find Obama's off-the-cuff speaking sometimes painstakingly slow, I would rather see a president carefully construct his sentences than step into one verbal pothole after another. Change has really come.
