- Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson both looked pretty good in their preseason matchup against the Texans on Monday night. Favre went 13-18 for 142 yards and TD, while Peterson ran for 117 yards and TD on just 11 carries including a 75 yard TD run on the first play from scrimmage. It was just preseason and it was just the Texans defense, but I like the Vikings offense this year.

- Bengals first round pick Andre Smith, who was a hold out, is out indefinitely with a fractured foot in a non-contact drill. What can you say? That's the Bengals for you.
- The Bengals did get a little bit of good news. Carson Palmer returned to practice and looked "pretty good". I always say you should never draft based on injury history, but this guy seems to get injured everytime he's touched. With him needing to pass a lot and how shaky the Bengals o-line looks, he may just be a first half of the season kind of guy.
- Amani Toomer was cut yesterday by the Chiefs. Considering how little talent they have on offense and still couldn't make the cut makes you wonder if he'll ever be back.
- The Week One status of Wes Welker is questionable as he's missed last week's preseason game and recent practices with an undisclosed injury. Typical Patriots, not giving anyone an idea as to what's wrong with their players. I wouldn't worry about it until the Saturday before his first regular season game.
- Knownshon Moreno is healing up nicely and should be able to play against the Bengals in Week One. I wouldn't count on him to be the starter after missing most of the preseason, however going up against the Bengals, its hard to ignore him.
The 49ers OC said yesterday that he wants to run the ball "60% of the time in the regular season". Not really all that surprising. Throughout the off season, all the talk in Niners camp was handing off the ball to Frank Gore more often. This does hurt Shaun Hill's value though.
- The Chiefs are currently not planning on having Matt Cassel for the opener at Baltimore. Its probably better that way. The Ravens defense would eat him alive. He has a much better matchup against Oakland in Week Two.
